1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Duowise, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, you may not use the service. Your continued use of Duowise after any changes to these terms constitutes acceptance of those changes.

2. Description of Service

Duowise is a language learning platform that uses artificial intelligence to transform articles and text into bilingual lessons, vocabulary extraction, and text-to-speech audio. The service is provided on an as-available basis and features may be added, modified, or removed at our discretion. We use third-party services including AI language models and text-to-speech providers to deliver our features.

3. Accounts

You may create an account using email and password or Google OAuth. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account. You must provide accurate information during registration and promptly update any changes.

4. Subscriptions and Payments

Duowise offers a free tier with 3 lessons per month and a Pro plan at $20 per month with 30 lessons. Payments are processed through our third-party payment provider. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled before the end of the current billing period, and refunds are handled in accordance with our refund policy.

5. User Content

You retain ownership of any text, articles, or other content you submit to Duowise for lesson generation. By submitting content, you grant Duowise a non-exclusive license to process, transform, and store it for the purpose of providing the service. You are solely responsible for ensuring you have the right to use any content you submit.

6. AI-Generated Content

Lessons, translations, vocabulary definitions, and other outputs generated by our AI systems are provided for educational purposes only. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of AI-generated content. You should verify critical translations or language information with authoritative sources.

7. Intellectual Property

Duowise and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by Duowise and are protected by intellectual property laws. Our trademarks, logos, and brand elements may not be used without prior written consent. Nothing in these terms grants you any rights to our intellectual property beyond the limited license to use the service.

8. Prohibited Conduct and Content Policy

You may not use Duowise to process illegal, harmful, or infringing content, or to attempt to reverse-engineer, exploit, or disrupt the service. Automated access, scraping, or abuse of API endpoints is strictly prohibited.

You are strictly prohibited from submitting content that is intended to generate or that results in: sexually explicit or pornographic material; content depicting or promoting violence, self-harm, or terrorism; deepfakes or manipulated media intended to deceive; political propaganda or disinformation; content that infringes on third-party intellectual property or copyrights; medical, legal, or financial advice presented as professional guidance; content that facilitates fraud, phishing, or other criminal activities; or any content that violates applicable laws or regulations.

Duowise employs content moderation systems to detect and prevent the generation of prohibited content. Any violation of this content policy will result in immediate and permanent account termination without refund. We reserve the right to report illegal activities to the appropriate authorities.

9. Fair Use and Usage Limits

Each Duowise plan includes specific usage limits. These limits exist because each interaction consumes computational resources, including AI language model processing and text-to-speech synthesis.

Monthly lesson generation limits: Free plan — 3 lessons per month; Pro plan — 30 lessons per month.

Daily interaction limits for the Free plan: 10 AI conversations, 20 vocabulary lookups, and 30 text-to-speech plays per day. Daily interaction limits for the Pro plan: 100 AI conversations, 200 vocabulary lookups, and 300 text-to-speech plays per day.

Lesson Passes may be purchased individually at $1 per lesson. Each Lesson Pass includes its own interaction quota: 50 AI conversations, 100 vocabulary lookups, and 150 text-to-speech plays per lesson. These per-lesson quotas are consumed only after your daily plan limits are exhausted. A maximum of 20 Lesson Passes may be purchased per month.

All limits reset daily at midnight UTC (for daily limits) or on your billing date (for monthly limits). We reserve the right to adjust these limits with reasonable notice. You agree not to circumvent these limits through any means, including creating multiple accounts, automating lesson generation, or exploiting technical vulnerabilities. We reserve the right to suspend accounts that exhibit patterns of abuse or excessive resource consumption beyond their plan limits.

10. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account at any time for violation of these terms or for any reason at our sole discretion. You may delete your account at any time through your account settings. Upon termination, your right to use the service ceases immediately and we may delete your data in accordance with our privacy policy.

11. Disclaimer of Warranties

Duowise is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components. We disclaim all warranties including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Duowise and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the service. Our total liability for any claims related to the service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you.

13. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. We will notify users of material changes via email or through a notice on the service. Your continued use of Duowise after such changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
